Ms. Schwerzler's students spent a week celebrating creativity and friendship through an inspiring book, "I'm Not Just a Scribble" by Diane Alber. After reading the story, students created their own "scribble art" and learned a wonderful lesson: that we are all unique, and when we combine our differences, we create something beautiful together!

OCHS football players welcomed our students with high-fives, encouragement, and friendly conversations. The program, led by Coach Aaron Skinner, is designed to help high school athletes connect with and positively impact the broader community they represent.
"We want our players to understand that being part of this program means that we have an opportunity to use our platform to positively influence those around us and be a part of something bigger than ourselves," said Coach Skinner. "When they see the smiles and excitement from the students and parents, it reminds us that we can all, regardless of our backgrounds and circumstances, make a positive impact on others. It’s a blessing to be able to share that excitement with those students and positively impact the youth in Our Community (OC)!"

4th graders have been enjoying learning about Native Americans. Mrs. Hankins explained, "Our students became local historians and gave presentations about the 9 federally recognized Confederated Tribes of Oregon. We looked into their traditional homelands, available natural resources, foods, houses, and cultures." We're proud of how well the kids honor the history and legacy of Oregon's first stewards. #gaffneyschool

Our students crushed it today! The sun was shining, the music was playing, and the energy was electric for our annual jog-a-thon! The kids ran their hearts out and had great fun playing the field games, too.

Fifth graders had a wonderful first week. Mrs. Fernaeus explained, "We spent a lot of time building our classroom community working in small groups to collaborate, create and learn. The variety of activities included looking for patterns in a task called 100’s, trying to create different numbers of squares with a twist--each member could only touch one color, and working on listening skills and learning positive ways to communicate in 'Blind Puzzles'.
